Georgina Studio Tour 2019

It’s that time again. Please consider grabbing a studio tour map and spending a few hours this weekend exploring some truly wonderful art and the artists that create it. Once again, I will be at the Homestead Orchards barn, letter “R” on the map. Come say hi to my fellow barn inhabitants Thelma Sellers and new to the tour Karin Watson. Plus there is the added bonus that we are upstairs from the Homestead Orchard bakery…

around the block

around the block

I am fortunate to have a lovely supply of very old, western red cedar at my disposal to play with. So along with my wanderlust series of photographic images I have taken in my travels & transferred onto wooden blocks, I have decided to use this wood to showcase my mixed-media images.

Some blocks have the live edge on them, others do not & instead all the sides are painted. They are wonderfully heavy; they can be put on a book shelf or stand beside a lamp on a end table. And of course they can easily be hung up on a wall.

So excited to see my third project on the Joggles blog! To see how I created this house, head over by clicking here.

I am working feverishly on getting ready for the Waterfront Artisan Market June 18 & 19. It will be a great Father’s Day weekend in Toronto on the picturesque Queen’s Quay. Stay tuned to my Instagram account  (@nadyaedwards) this week as I send out sneak peeks of what I will have at the show.

My latest Joggles Design Team project can be seen in its entirety on the Joggles blog. I really enjoyed creating this wooden house with a photo I took in Paris. It was one of several shots I had taken atop the Arc d’Triomphe. I had walked the perimeter of the arch taking photos that I hope to piece together one day. These views were some of my favourite photos & memories of our 10 day stay in Paris back in 2010.

3 things I’m excited about

3 things I'm excited about

First off, I am finally getting back to my kinda normal after the Spring One of a Kind, and working on some great custom canvases that patrons at the show requested. One of the best parts of this show is meeting fantastic people, both patrons & exhibitors. Yes, and of course, buying stuff.

top 3 projects on the go

My cow, Annabelle was a big hit at this show. People were very attracted to her and loved the background colouring. I am pretty sure she is now hanging in the office of a lovely lady. I definitely plan on creating more canvases using this style. By the way, Annabelle is now available as an 8×10 print at my OOAK Online Shop.

3 things I'm excited aboutNext, I am thrilled to announce that I have been asked to be part of the 2016 Joggles Design Team!!! Joggles is an on-line art & craft store that has fantastic supplies, as well as great videos & tutorials. Look for exciting projects from this very talented Design Team starting this month. I can hardly wait to start playing!

Finally, I am excited that Miss Know-It-All has survived her first year of university and will be home VERY soon! I have actually talked her into accompanying me to the Creativ Festival this weekend, on our way home from moving her out of residence. For those of you who are local, I have many art back in stock at the GACAG, Energy Flow Yoga (Keswick location) & Daylyn. Remember if you can’t find what you are looking for, just contact me!

Enjoy this very fine weather we are having!

Lotus Flower Workshop

Back in November I ran the Buddha Workshop at Simplicity Yoga. It was a 3 hour mixed-media class in which students started with a blank 8×10 inch canvas and ended up with a beautifully collaged, painted & inked uniquely theirs piece of art. Fun was had by all, and even though it was scheduled for 2 hours, we really needed the 3 hours to really enjoy the process.

I will be running another workshop on February 6th, this time we will be using the lotus flower as our focus. So if you missed out on the first class, you have a second chance! There are still a few spots left. Contact Simplicity Yoga.

new beginnings

Happy New Year! I hope that everyone found a little time to relax and do something just for themselves over the holidays.

I have decided to explore several different art adventures this year and show you my progress along the way. The above painting is week 1 of Life Book 2015. She is my “Beacon of Light” for the year and my anthem is “be fearless”. I love her! I am also going to commit to art journaling, and to help me with that I have joined the Documented Life Project.

Here is a custom piece I finished over the holidays for a sweet girl. I thank the amazing Micki Wilde for her inspiration.
