journaling the journey

journaling the journey

Currently, I am on a journal-making frenzy! I was asked to make a large travel journal as a wedding present for newlyweds travelling around the world on their honeymoon. I loved the finished product so much, it gave me a bit of travel fever! I love to re-use old books, tons of ephemera as well as incorporating my art into the pages.

I will have a brand new batch of them November 12 in Uxbridge at the USS Drama Students Fundraiser. Check out my events page for more information.

Currently, my art is also on display at beyondCRAFT at the Latcham Gallery in Stouffville throughout the weekend.

3 things I’m excited about

3 things I'm excited about

First off, I am finally getting back to my kinda normal after the Spring One of a Kind, and working on some great custom canvases that patrons at the show requested. One of the best parts of this show is meeting fantastic people, both patrons & exhibitors. Yes, and of course, buying stuff.

top 3 projects on the go

My cow, Annabelle was a big hit at this show. People were very attracted to her and loved the background colouring. I am pretty sure she is now hanging in the office of a lovely lady. I definitely plan on creating more canvases using this style. By the way, Annabelle is now available as an 8×10 print at my OOAK Online Shop.

3 things I'm excited aboutNext, I am thrilled to announce that I have been asked to be part of the 2016 Joggles Design Team!!! Joggles is an on-line art & craft store that has fantastic supplies, as well as great videos & tutorials. Look for exciting projects from this very talented Design Team starting this month. I can hardly wait to start playing!

Finally, I am excited that Miss Know-It-All has survived her first year of university and will be home VERY soon! I have actually talked her into accompanying me to the Creativ Festival this weekend, on our way home from moving her out of residence. For those of you who are local, I have many art back in stock at the GACAG, Energy Flow Yoga (Keswick location) & Daylyn. Remember if you can’t find what you are looking for, just contact me!

Enjoy this very fine weather we are having!

A Great Big THANK-YOU!

IMG_7787-2First off — a great, big THANK-YOU to all the folks that stopped by P22 at the Spring One Of A Kind Show this past week. It was my second time at the show, but my first actual booth. It was so nice to have more space to showcase my art.

Life loves to throw curves at us, and leading up to this show, our days were filled with extreme highs & lows, & as I raced along I really wondered how much more I could possibly handle. So receiving the kind compliments & words of encouragement that I did during those 5 days really filled me with gratitude & reaffirmed for me that my art touches many fellow souls. I met some incredible people & had such wonderful conversations with them about how the images & sayings related to their lives. I feel that my canvases & cards have all found good homes.

NEA_1016Now that I am an exhibitor at the show, I no longer get to leisurely stroll the long aisles, but I did manage to get some shopping in. Above are a few of purchases, all adding to collections we have already started with these wonderful artisans. The spiky fellow is by Creations Li, the Rebeer glass from Artech Glassblowing Studios, & the awesome grinder is from Arbol.

My next outing is with  Pointer Scrapbooking at Scrapfest In Kitchener April 11-12, where I will be doing mixed-media make ‘n takes at their booth. After that I will be teaching a mixed-media class in Markham at the Pointer Scrapbooking store on Wed April 16th from 5-8pm. Contact the store to confirm your spot!

I look forward to virtually reconnecting with many of you to continue our conversations, and getting to know a little better my new friends.

Girls’ Day Out

The last few weeks have consumed my time with filling custom orders from the show, replenishing stock at Elemi Organics in Uxbridge & Simplicity Yoga in Keswick, teaching classes, confirming summer art shows & a little jaunt to Greece!

I am so inspired, renewed and ready to experiment!

A few weeks back, Miss Know-It-All and I had a girls’ day out. You might be expecting mani-pedis, clothing shopping and a chick flick. Maybe for other people.

We spent hours in the newly opened art supply store, DeSerres in Richmond Hill. I think we conquered every aisle with diligence & efficiency, leaving no product we found the least bit interesting undisturbed.

After doing a fair bit of damage there, we then headed off to a late lunch/early dinner, bought shoes (OK, a little girly), then topped the day off with the new thriller, “The Call” with Halle Berry. I am quite surprised we didn’t end up with a plus one in bed that night!

Next, let’s see what I can do with all my new art supplies!
